Under the Making Home Affordable Program, there is the Home Affordable Refinance Program which gives homeowners with loans owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac an opportunity to refinance into more affordable monthly payments.
The following are the basic requirements to qualify for the program:
- You are current on your mortgage payments (you have not been more than 30 days late on your mortgage payment in the last 12 months).
- Your loan is owned by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac.
- You are the owner of your home.
